Trap x ESWB “SERA”
At the end of the 1980s a writer appeared in Hamburg whose work would push the “limits of what was possible”. The name was Amadeus, who quickly built a reputation far beyond Hamburg.
Because he usually worked alone, for a long time even many writers did not know who the person behind these striking pieces actually was. Especially in the years 1990 and 1991 Amadeus, who was also a BMX freestyle professional for a period of time, was out almost every night painting elaborate and colorful pieces at risky but highly visible spots.
His lettering combined a high level of complexity with remarkable craftsmanship. The bars, swings and blocks were perfectly placed, and the lines — especially considering the spray paint quality of the time — were surprisingly clean.
Unlike many writers, Amadeus often changed names. Legal pieces he soon painted only under the name “Shore”. At night he wrote names like Who, Sir, Dinr, Enro, Serta, Lor, Ent — or Sera, the name that appears on this deck.
His style, a typical Amadeus “eyecatcher”, suddenly appeared in 1991 on a railway bridge in Hamburg-Rahlstedt and became widely known.
As a member of the legendary crew RTA (Real Transit Artists) — at the time the undisputed kings of train writing across Europe — Amadeus spread his names until 1994 in cities such as Dortmund, Amsterdam and many others throughout Germany and Europe.
In 1992 he achieved what many writers dream of: painting a wholecar on a New York subway train.
