Through footwear and style, the game of basketball and the extreme sport of skateboarding are fundamentally connected at their core. Ahead of the 2018-2019 season, Nike SB will join forces with the NBA for a special collaboration. The range features two apparell pieces, hoodies and satin bomber jackets besides this also three shoe models the Nike Bruin, Blazer and Dunk. They were all originally designed as basketball footwear options, but were quickly adopted as lifestyle statement pieces for both casual and professional skaters.
When discussing the roots of the collaborations Koston expressed:
“As a skateboarder, I’ve always looked at those early basketball shoes from an aesthetic standpoint – because the style was always cool – but also from a technological standpoint, because of the similarities in our need for impact and support.”
